An Asociation Between Subjective Oral State, Psychological Characteristic and Oral Health Impact Profile-14 in University Students

Abstract
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between oral conditions, psychological characteristics, and OHIP-14 index among university students.

Methods: This study surveyed 200 university students about their general and psychological characteristics and OHIP-14 indices. Statistical analysis was conducted via t-test, one-way ANOVA, and correlation analysis using SPSS 19.0.

Results: Oral condition and anterior teeth dentition showed negative correlations with psychological characteristics, whereas protrusion and psychological characteristics showed positive correlations. Oral condition and anterior teeth dentition were negatively correlated with the OHIP-14 index, whereas protrusion and the OHIP-14 index were positively correlated.

Conclusions: Therefore, this study shows an association between the subjective oral state, psychological characteristics, and OHIP-14 index.
